Life on Board a Gulet - What to Expect

One of the best things about joining a gulet cruise is how effortlessly enjoyable life becomes. Picture this: you’re gliding across turquoise waters with a gentle breeze, surrounded by good friends (or soon-to-be ones), stunning coastal views, and the promise of a peaceful anchorage by sunset. A gulet cruise isn’t just a holiday - it’s a lifestyle, even if just for a few days.

Our cruises are designed to be relaxed, informal, and full of fun, but like any shared experience at sea, life on board works best when everyone respects a few simple principles - especially when it comes to safety, cooperation, and courtesy.

A Day at Sea

Each day begins with the gentle sway of the boat and the smell of fresh breakfast. After anchoring overnight in a quiet bay or harbor, we set off in the morning to explore new coves, islands, or seaside towns. You can spend your day sunbathing on deck, swimming in secluded bays, reading under shade sails, or chatting with fellow passengers over a cold drink. We stop at various points for meals, swim breaks, or short land excursions to historic ruins, local villages, or nature walks.

Meals & Relaxation

Delicious meals are freshly prepared by our onboard chef and served three times a day. Expect a variety of traditional Turkish dishes, fresh salads, grilled fish, and mezes, with plenty of vegetarian options. Snacks, tea, and coffee are also available throughout the day. Meals are usually shared at the main table - a perfect time to connect with others and swap travel stories.

Freedom & Flexibility

While the crew handles the sailing, anchoring, and logistics, your job is simple: relax and enjoy. There’s no strict schedule, and the rhythm of the day follows the sea, the weather, and the moment. Want to take a nap in the shade, jump off the deck into the water, or sip wine under the stars? It’s your time to do as little or as much as you like.

Life in the Cabins

Your cabin is your private space, with comfortable beds, storage, and a bathroom with shower. Gulets are handcrafted wooden yachts, so space is used smartly, but you’ll find everything you need for a comfortable stay. Most guests spend the majority of their time on deck, in the sea, or socializing, and often choose to sleep under the stars on warm summer nights.

A Shared Space at Sea

Gulets typically carry between 8 and 32 guests, depending on size. This means shared spaces like the lounge, dining area, and sun deck are key to daily life. A spirit of respect, cooperation, and light-heartedness goes a long way. It’s a social environment, but there’s always room for quiet reflection and solitude when you need it.

Safety First

While cruising is fun and easygoing, safety always comes first. Every gulet is operated by a professional crew who are trained in maritime safety and emergency procedures. As a guest, you’ll be given a short but important safety briefing at the start of your journey. It’s important to follow the crew’s instructions, especially when moving around while the boat is underway or when using water equipment.

Our gulets are maintained to high standards, and your captain will always prioritize the safety of passengers, crew, and vessel above all else - even if that means adjusting the itinerary due to weather or sea conditions.

A Responsible Journey

We ask all guests to respect the natural beauty of the sea and coastline. Please avoid using plastic unnecessarily, don’t throw anything overboard, and help us protect the waters we’re so lucky to sail. This helps us preserve Turkey’s pristine marine environment for generations to come.

In Summary

A gulet cruise is a unique and unforgettable way to experience the beauty of Turkey's coastline. It’s about freedom, simplicity, good food, good people, and connection with nature. While we keep things light and relaxed, a shared respect for the boat, the crew, and fellow travelers ensures everyone enjoys the journey to the fullest.

So kick off your shoes, leave your worries on the shore, and let the sea set the pace.
Welcome aboard!

Seafty On Board

The whole idea of joining a cruise is to have a blast, sailing in a great area with good friends. Though we do not want to make all this sound like boot camp, there are a few important issues about daily life on board.
While a charter on a gulet is fun in the first place, let's not forget that everybody on board must understand basic safety issues.
The safety of passengers and crew / gulet is always placed above any other consideration.

Life jackets

A PFD (Personal Flotation Device) is designed to keep your head above water and to help you remain in a position which permits proper breathing.
The life jackets are stored under the beds in all cabins and/or in the common sitting area. Ask your crew!

Fire extinguishers

Our boat fire extinguishers are Coast Guard approved.

Fire blanket

The safety fire blankets on the boats meet the requirements of all fire safety regulations on board.

Necessity of a tidy boat

Being on a 50 or 70 somewhat feet boat for a few days or more imply close quarters. Beyond the simple comfort, it is a matter of basic safety for everyone on board that before setting off, everything is properly stowed and secured. In the cabins and in the common areas. We hope that everyone can understand this and participate. There is the potential for objects to fly that are not stored properly. Along with this we like to keep a tidy, organized boat. The gulet is your home for the period of your cruise and is someone's precious property. Be kind to it.

No shoes on board

Normal street shoes are definitely not acceptable on board a yacht... Walking barefoot is the rule on board! Soft-soled shoes for getting around on deck (not inside) is possible.

Toilets on board

A boat toilet is very complex & sensitive machinery that gets very easily blocked. Therefore please do not put any toilet paper or sanitary products down the toilets on board. Use the rubbish bin in the bathroom. Air displaced from the tank when the waste drops may cause a smell. Please operate the pump long enough to ensure that waste is flushed all the way out of the hose to the holding tank. Waste standing in the hose is a source of unpleasant odors. "Gentlemen please be seated" is another effective way of minimizing head compartment odors.

Water

Water supply on board is obviously limited. Please do not let the water run while brushing your teeth. Keep your showers short.

Power/Electricity

The same concept as the water. Please avoid leaving lights on without reason. Electrical appliances may only be connected while the yacht is tied up to land.

Respect of fellow passengers/crew and other water enthusiasts

We share the Mediterranean with other boaters, fishermen, swimmers, surfers, and water skiers, please respect their rights to safety, comfort, access, and use of the water.

Seasickness

Don't stay down below unless necessary, look at the horizon if you feel queasy. Guests who are prone to it take the proper medications well before casting off.

Smoking

No smoking inside! Smoking is only allowed on the deck. Please use the provided ash trays!

Fun and Entertainment

The most important part of the blue cruise is to enjoy and have fun. As long as you adhere to the rules of everyday life, you can be sure that you will have a smooth holiday.

Have a great cruise!
